Socires, Society and responsibility, is a Dutch expertise centre that focuses on themes relating to the relationship between public and private, such as social organisations in public service delivery, the cooperation between government, market, and social organisations, and the role of religion in the public domain.
Socires organizes research and debate, field programmes and training. In Socires's vision personal commitment, organisational performance, and social vitality are intrinsically connected with each other. With ideas and policy proposals Socires contributes to lasting social renewal.
Socires is een expertisecentrum dat zich richt op thema's rond de verhouding tussen publiek en privaat, zoals maatschappelijke organisaties in publieke dienstverlening, samenwerking tussen overheid, markt, en maatschappelijke organisaties, en de rol van religie in de samenleving.
Socires organiseert onderzoek en debat, veldprogramma's en training. In de visie van Socires liggen persoonlijke betrokkenheid, organisatorische prestaties en maatschappelijke vitaliteit in elkaars verlengde. Met ideeën en beleidsvoorstellen draagt Socires bij aan duurzame maatschappelijke vernieuwing.

Op 28 maart 2012 ontving Minister Spies, minister van Binnenlandse Zaken, het boekje Loslaten, vertrouwen, verbinden waarin Jos van der Lans de resultaten van het Project Binding heeft verwoordt. Haal de electronische versie van het boekje hier op, en geef het door aan ieder die geïnteresseerd is!

30 Apr 2012 | Vandaag begint de Nederlandse Nationale Stille Week. Met tape of krijt bouwen we onze seculiere loofhut op de stoep die we op koninginnedag bewonen. Bezet schrijven we er in is het paradoxaal of ironisch? en symbolisch vervaagt het woord bezet langzaam in de dagen die volgen, op weg naar bevrijdingsdag. Dit jaar hebben we echt iets te vieren, want de Tweede Kamer, onze volksvertegenwoordiging, heeft de voorsmaak van de bevrijding gegeven!

19 Apr 2012 | The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands approves and compliments final report on the Ukraine Matra project: Improving the quality of life of services with disabilities in Ukraine.
In its closing letter dated the 15th of March 2012 of the Matra project: 'Improving the quality of life of and services for children with disabilities in Ukraine', the Ministry of Foreign Affairs evaluates the results of our Matra project in the following way (translation from original Dutch text):
"It is with satisfaction that we have observed that the programme has generated an effective change in the policies for care and support for handicapped children in Ukraine, and also, that the capacity of the involved institutions and NGOs for care for the handicapped has been increased. The Dzherelo Centre has developed itself to a national training centre. The final conference in September 2011 contributed to the visibility and the durability of the results of the project. Thanks to your programme, the care for children with a handicap has been improved in a structural and durable way. I consider this to be a very positive outcome."

22 Mar 2012 | Vice Versa nummer 2 van 2011 berichtte over levensgevaarlijk ontwikkelingswerk van Padre Toño in El Salvador. De actualiteit biedt nu meer dan ooit aanleiding voor zorgen over het werk van de priester met de jeugdbendes. In El Salvador wordt de overheid ervan beschuldigd te onderhandelen met de gangs, waardoor de spanning in het land toeneemt. Na een arrestatie van ex-bendelid Giovanni, bij een van de projecten van Toño, lijkt hij nu in het centrum van de discussie komen te staan. Op nationale televisie vroeg hij al om beveiliging door de overheid. Tot nu toe tevergeefs.
