Socires

was founded in 2000 to stimulate reflection and research on culture and society. The board consists of people from of the world of science, education, care, business, consultancy, and politics. All have a background in, and are committed to, the Christian-social movement.

Renewal of practices

Socires connects persons and organizations around ideas that can guide renewal of practices. To that end we organize research and relfection, exchange of knowledge and ideas, conferences, seminars, courses, and platforms.
Sustainable social renewal is forged by people and organizations with ideas and commitment. Socires supports them with advice and assistence.

The coordinator of the Eastern Europe Program of Socires, Mr. Eric Bloemkolk, has become part time director of SOFT Tulip (www.softtulip.nl): a big network of Dutch NGO service providers that strives for the improvement of the quality of life of people with disabilities outside the Netherlands.

November 2008

The manual Creating Successful Campaigns for Community Living: An advocacy manual for disability organisations and service providers was published by the European Coalition for Community Living. It was financially supported by Socires Foundation from the Netherlands. ... more information

Cooperation for cohesion in Ukraine

This article by Eric Bloemkolk appeared in Lifelong Learning and Social Cohesion.

"Ukraine is on the path towards reforming its care provision for handicapped children. Emergent Ukrainian civil society organizations have ushered in change, cooperating with international NGOs and governmental bodies to raise awareness of the inhumane situation in Ukrainian state run internats for disabled children. This article documents this process and its best practices of changing a policy of marginalisation."
