Collega Ward Huetink gaat samen met het publiek in gesprek over de verschillende vragen die 'Iron Man' calls on us.

About the film series

With Films that Matter open The Chapel Bloemendaal and Socires a window on the world. In this series of film evenings, meaningful cinema is linked to philosophy, conversation and meeting. A series in which visitors are invited not only to watch a film, but also to be questioned: What do we see? What's hitting us? And what does this say about the time we live in?

The film nights are inspired by the book Thinking about film from colleagues Kees Buitendijk, Ward Huetink and Ellen Klaver. In this bundle, eight leading thinkers explore how films can help us think about the impact of technology on our lives and living together. Not from demand "what do we do with technology? 'But right: "What does technology do to us?"

About the movie

In Ironman (2008) by director Jon Favreau we see how billionaire and engineer Tony Stark, after being held captive in an Afghan cave, creates a unique armor to fight evil. So he becomes the superhero Iron Man. The film raises deep questions: what does he say about justice? What does he tell us about today's heroes and about the power of technique (and money) that makes their actions possible?
