In collaboration with the Kloosterkerk organizes Socires the fifth evening Film & Philosophy. This time with the film 'Youth' (2015). Colleague and philosopher Paul Bosman gives a brief introduction and a talk about wanting to be young, getting older and dealing with the passing time.

About the movie

In Youth (2015) of director Paolo Sorrentino we follow retired conductor and composer Fred Ballinger (Michael Caine), who no longer wants to conduct and Mick Boyle (Harvey Keitel), a film director who is working on his latest film. Together they stay in a luxury spa in the Swiss Alps. As they look back on their lives, careers and relationships, they face age, memories, regret and the question of how to continue to find meaning in the final phase of their lives. The film plays with the absurdity of ageing, against the background of a beautiful contemplative atmosphere.

About the speaker

Paul Bosman studied political science, religious science and philosophy. He's working at Socires as programme leader and researcher in the areas of democracy, society and international politics. He is also active as a moderator, including at the Philosophical School Netherlands.

Tickets are as always available via the website of the Monastery Church. Cards are also available at the door at night. Costs for this evening are €18.00 including 3 drinks (coffee, tea, wine, fresh).
