In collaboration with KINO Rotterdam organized Socires A movie series called KINOsofie. It's a film series about the impact of technology on our lives. Each film screening was introduced by a leading thinker who invites us to watch, reflect and discuss the future of society and the role of technology. The introduction of this film was done by our colleague Ward Huetink.

Technique in Beeld

The reason for this series is the collection 'Denken over film: Techniek in Beeld'. The collection contains eight essays by well-known philosophers, aimed at making large (life) questions accessible for discussion in relation to new information technology developments and applications. Heroes have for years been the iconic figures who in stories embody the central values of a culture. The hero characters of our time are Hollywood superheroes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe started in 2008 with Iron Man and had a huge success. What do we see when we look at the Marvel heroes?

About the speaker

Ward Huetink is a philosopher, programme coordinator and researcher at Socires. Ward directs (and investigates inside) the program Structures of Sense. In 2024, his book "Sin in civil society" was published.
