With the issues mentioned in this booklet, we will continue to work in the coming years, through trainings and courses for local administrators and executive professionals who want to think fundamentally differently about youth care. About the Book
Dutch youth care has assumed monstrous proportions: there is an unbridled demand for help, which moreover is being used more intensively and longer.
The recourse to people and resources has long gone beyond all reasonable limits. Moreover, from a social point of view, we consider it morally unacceptable that more families, young people and children should call for the help of youth care.
Unfortunately, this is ancient news. For years, attempts have been made to reverse the tide, but it always turns out to be in vain. However, we refuse to regard this as inevitable. We will explain this in more detail in this booklet. Not as a miracle cure, but as an attempt to make a change.
New is the central place we assign to the alderman. His role is crucial to finally tame the monster. That alderman cannot do that alone, it is a joint task of all those involved, of the community as a whole.
Free to a famous saying in youth care: It takes a village to rún a village, but with the peripheral condition the call we make to the alderman with the title of this booklet: Drivers, steer!
