Carmody Grey
Carmody Grey was appointed as Special Professor Integral Ecology at the Laudato Si hindered institution, within the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religion Sciences of Radboud University.
The new special chair Integral Ecology focuses on strengthening the academic and social dialogue on ecology and social justice, from a perspective in which science, ethics and philosophy come together. The appointment of Carmody Grey is valid for a period of five years.

About Carmody Grey
Grey was formerly assistant professor of Catholic Theology at Durham University and is also Deputy Professor of Ethics at the University of Bern. Since joining Durham University in 2018, she has built up a worldwide reputation in philosophical theology and theological ethics, with a focus on science, nature and the environment. Grey disregarded monograph Theology, Science and Life was published in 2023. She is a popular speaker in the UK and worldwide. She has several degrees in theology and philosophy (from Trinity College Oxford, Kings College Cambridge, University of Bristol and University of Nottingham), as well as a postgraduate in nature conservation biology (from Edinburgh).
Mr Laudato Siūn Institute for Integral Ecology
The special chair Integral Ecology is part of the Mr Laudato Siūn Institute for Integral Ecology. In addition to the previous appointments of a scientific associate and a PhD student, the appointment of Grey is an important step in the further design of the Laudato Si hindered institution and the deepening of the academic and social dialogue on the socio-ecological challenges of our time. The encyclical Laudato Siūn (2015) by Pope Francis is an important source of inspiration for the Institute. The institute is a collaboration between Radboud University and independent think tank Socires.
The special chair Integral Ecology is set by the independent think tank Socires and is made possible by, among others, Porticus, Fundatie Charitas Roosendaal, RC Maagdenhuis, Kansfonds and Stichting BKBO.

Laudato Siūn Institute
The Special Chair in Integral Ecology is part of the Laudato Si hindered Institute for Integral Ecology, a collaborative initiative between Radboud University and Socires, established in December 2023. Following the early appointments of a research fellow and a PhD student, the appointment of Grey marks an important step in further shaping the Laudato Si hindered Institute and promoting academic and social dialogue on the socio-ecological challenges of our time. The 2015 encyclical Laudato Siūn by Pope Francis serves as a key inspiration for the Institute.
The Special Chair in Integral Ecology was initiated by the independent think tank Socires and is established with support from, among others, Porticus, Fundatie Charitas Roosendaal, RC Maagdenhuis, Kansfonds and Stichting BKBO.
