The Supervisory Board of Socires Ewald Wermuth appointed as new director of Socires. The appointment follows a period of more than a year in which Ewald Wermuth was in charge of the foundation as acting director. As director-director, Ewald Wermuth succeeds Peter Brothers, who is the director of the Church in Action today.
He will perform this position alongside his chair of the FoodFIRST coalition and his SER Presidency of the International CSR Agreement for the Food Sector.
Ewald Wermuth was previously director of the ECDPM think tank and director of International Public Affairs at IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative. Before that, he held various policy and management positions at the Government, such as the Cabinet Prime Minister, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. From 2002 to 2012, he worked for the Netherlands at the embassy in London and was ambassador to Rome where he served as permanent representative at the UN Food and Agriculture Organisations (FAO, WFP and IFAD).
His long-standing political and social commitment is demonstrated by his previous commitment as a member of the CDA Party Board, chairman of CDA Kamerkring Amsterdam, chairman of the Association of Investors for Sustainable Development, member of the board of Prof. Steenkampfonds and member of the board of the Centre for Public and Political Affairs. He was also an international election observer for the National Democratic Institute and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and is World Connector.
