The Catholic faith was not only figuratively poured in with the dolphin, but also literally with the milk bottle, by the sisters of the monastery in the Brabant Nuenen. His mother could not breast-feed her only child at the time, but she did feed him with what she saw in the Catholic faith: look forward to each other.
As an 86-year-old Van Gennip still tries to live there. By not being sad at this age, as he calls it, but still being committed to a particular type of commitment. He does this by continuing to think along with the foundation he founded. Socires. Earlier during his career he worked for the fathers and sisters in the mission, development aid and the CDA. He can look forward to a long life.
Aukje van Roessel (b. 1955) was political editor at De Groene Amsterdammer. Before that she worked in daily journalism, including for Brabant Pers and de Volkskrant. In the past few years, she also published a weekly column in the weekly newspaper. The Hague Central. This book she wrote at the request of Socires, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our foundation.
