On the initiative of Socires with the Radboud University plans developed to set up a Para-University Laudato Si hindered institute, with a special chair Laudato Si. The aim is to provide Laudato Sieb with knowledge on the development of a Integral Ecology to promote. Made this Socires and Radboud University known together on November 18th.
The aim of the Institute is to develop the Integral Ecology, exhorted by Pope Francis in his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si. According to this approach, climate change cannot be separated from the global poverty problem, and the underlying logic that has led to this distribution of prosperity is the same as it damages and exhausts the Earth. The climate and the environment are not only a matter of governments and technical solutions, but also of a changed life and the commitment of human communities and private organisations. Because this problem needs to be addressed in its entirety, the possible solution must also be sought in full, from a transdisciplinary, dialogal perspective. The institute to be set up at Radboud University will implement this from the academic angle. At the same time, the institute consequently contributes to the identity of Radboud University, which has been in particular interest for the last few weeks, also in the run-up to the 100th anniversary of the university in 2023. The establishment of the institute, and the intended appointment of a special professor Laudato Si hindered by the Radboud University, the Foundation Het R.C. Maagdenhuis, the Kansfonds, the Foundation for the Promotion of the Catholic Special Education, and the Sobriatas Foundation.
Special cooperation between Socires and Radboud University was announced at a special Laudato Si hindered event that both parties, in cooperation with the Laudato Si hindered Alliance Netherlands, organised on 18 November under the title From Climate Depression to Sustainable Hope. Bishop Gerard de Korte of Den Bosch gave a lecture on Laudato Sieb and the value of hope in the protection of the earth, and climate activist Rozemarijn van . Then there were fifteen workshops, ranging from the philosophy of sustainability with Prof.Frans Wijsen to sustainable food with the Vegan Student Association and the sisters Clarissen van Megen.
Socires since the publication of the encyclical in 2015 led by her co-founder Mr. Jos van Gennip Integral Ecology to be brought to the attention of the Netherlands. In 2021 this was given with the startup of the program Take care of the Creation/Laudato Si hindered, and joining programme leader Josine Westerbeek-Huitink in a specific programme. Now unfolds Socires within this programme seven projects, one of which is cooperation with Radboud University.
