In Leidschendam-Voorburg, the movement has been deployed to halve youth care in 2030. With 1 in 7 children in the youth care system, the system has become stuck and priceless. But the most painful thing is that the current system increasingly excludes children from ordinary life and makes them feel that they are the problem. To break this negative spiral, a fundamentally new perspective is needed. What kind of community do we want and can we be for children who grow up here?
Kees Hair organized this evening on behalf of Socires and the Vrije Universiteit, together with colleague Bas Bosma. They developed a conversation method that we use to strengthen local youth care. The link to this evening's report is herecan be found here.
Similar meetings are organised with local police, libraries, churches and civil society organisations. We are always concerned about how social practices can strengthen citizenship, mutual trust and a democratic ethos.
