On Friday April 10th held Socires her 25th anniversary symposium entitled "Why, society?" Prof. Talja Blokland and Prof. Lisa Herzog were guests and stressed the importance of everyday democracy - which forms on the street and on the workplace. Is this the first place where mutual trust and tolerance can be restored?
Film screening
In a healthy society people feel at home, heard, recognized and appreciated; incorporated into a community; meaningful part of a whole. For a long time Dutch society was so organized that people get to work, develop themselves and each other, and gradually strengthen society. This was visible at all levels: in personal life, business and social life.
It must now be noted that in recent decades social movements have become less and less opportunities and motive for cooperation and meeting. We're alienating each other. Now we see the consequences. But what does that ultimately mean for society, democracy, prosperity and institutions?
This observation and the theme of Symposium has the film collectiveSensitivevisually captured in a beautiful introduction video about Socires. This ishere on YouTube.
