Together with the China Knowledge Network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized Socires the first public screening of the documentary Cosmolab. The CKN Cosmolab was introduced by Marc Moquette . After the screening, former ambassador Ed Kronenbrug and philosopher Julia Rijssenbeek talked to Marc Moquette about the ambitions of the Cosmolab.
Within this series of talks at Cosmolab, the question is how to look at knowledge, reality and international relations in a different, more critical way, with special attention to the relationship between Europe and China.
In the Cosmolab, current global issues such as geopolitics, technology and climate are approached from a philosophical and scientific perspective. The concept of "epistemic diplomacy" is used, bringing different world views and knowledge systems to dialogue.
During the meetings, the ambitions of the Cosmolab were reviewed. Is there room for reflection in the current turmoil? On the basis of what assumptions are we going to work in international relations? And what experiences can reinforce Cosmolab's goal?
The Cosmolab thus contributes to deepening the Dutch China policy by highlighting not only factual knowledge or interests, but also fundamental insights about world views and power relations. Want to know more? Contactp.bosman@socires.nlor look uphttps://www.chinaknowledgenetwork.en/cosmolab
