The organisations that have formed the backbone of our society in recent decades are under pressure. Political parties, trade unions, churches and philosophical organisations, as well as other social groups, clubs and associations, are all struggling with declining membership and diminishing cohesive power. This has consequences at both the societal and individual levels. In the programmeStructures of Meaning, Socires investigates where new forms and motives of togetherness and community arise, how they function and what this can mean for the old social connections.

What we do
In the Structures of Meaning programme, Socires identifies, researches and stimulates these new movements. We publish scientific research, essay collections and inspirational books, organise public lectures, advise social organisations and give presentations to pastors, volunteers and other interested parties.
Who we work with
Socires is collaborating with Vrijzinnigen Nederland on this programme. They are also providing financial resources. Other partners include the University of Humanistic Studies, the Thijmgenootschap and media channel De Nieuwe Wereld.
